Glove Size Guide

A comfortable fit starts with a simple hand measurement. Whether you’re choosing leather dress gloves or a practical pair for outdoor jobs, use this guide to help select your size.

Always check the sizing information on your chosen product. Size labels can vary between glove styles.

How to measure glove size: wrap a tape around the knuckles of your dominant hand, excluding the thumb.

Measure first, choose second

  1. Relax your hand. Use your dominant hand—the hand you usually write with—and hold it open with your fingers resting naturally together.
  2. Measure around the palm. Pass a flexible tape around the broadest part of your hand, at the knuckles. Keep your thumb outside the loop.
  3. Keep the tape comfortable. It should touch your skin without squeezing it. If your other hand is noticeably larger, measure that too and use the larger result.
  4. Find your size below. Match your measurement to the chart for the glove style you are buying.

No flexible tape? Use a piece of non-stretch string, mark where the ends meet, then measure that length against a ruler.

*Centimetre measurements are converted from inches and rounded to one decimal place. These are hand measurements, rather than the dimensions of the glove itself.

Check the feel

Try gently opening and closing your hand. Your gloves should stay comfortably in place without pinching your fingers, restricting movement or pulling firmly across your palm. Check that your fingertips sit comfortably inside the gloves.

Dress gloves usually have a closer feel, while practical outdoor styles may have a roomier cut. A warm lining also affects how a glove feels on the hand.

A little extra guidance

My measurement falls between two sizes. What should I do?

Check any fit advice on the product page before choosing. If you are unsure, contact us with your measurement and the style name. Avoid choosing a pair that feels restrictive in the hope that it will stretch.

Is my size the same in every glove?

A letter size is specific to the range. For example, a Small in women’s Nappa gloves corresponds to a different hand measurement from a Small in all-purpose gloves. Use the appropriate chart each time.

Which chart should I use for ski gloves or mittens?

Follow the measurements on the ski glove or mitten product page. Insulation and construction can affect the fit, so the dress-glove and all-purpose charts should not be assumed to apply.

What if I have particularly long or short fingers?

The palm measurement is a starting point, but finger length also matters. If your gloves fit across the hand but feel uncomfortable at the fingertips, contact us for advice on the style you are considering.

How can I choose gloves as a gift?

If possible, ask the recipient to measure their hand or check the size of a pair they already wear comfortably. Compare the measurement with the chosen product’s sizing information rather than relying on the letter label alone.
